In this article I want to describe the essence of the game and the economy — what I was guided by, where the elements were taken from. And I will tell a little more about myself and about how much time and for how long I have been inventing all this.
The first article in the series (start) is here.
Environment:
And so, the game takes place apparently in the future, on some planet far from Earth. Although it may be on Earth, to be honest, with this I didn’t bother too much, but initially my thoughts were about another planet. Since the first game I wanted to be on is Dune: The Battle For Arrakis, I even thought about doing some sands and maybe a worm :) In Dune, it was a cool trick that often brought changes into the game and made the game unusual and very different from other similar games.
Economy in the game:
This part of the game was more based on Total Annihilation (you can also know Supreme Commander). There is also metal and energy. But a tree was added to them, which then seemed to me quite logical (well, it cannot even consist of metal at all, at least we must add wood). In Dune were just credits — money. That is, we followed only one resource. In my game, I had to monitor the state of three resources — I don’t know how much more interesting it would be, but for some reason, then it seemed to me to be correct. Another difference from the Annihilation — the extraction of all resources could be done anywhere in the map, and not only in those places that are intended for this. It seemed to me not so logical, but it was much easier, so I decided not to bother. There were of course the desire to complicate this moment, but has not yet become.
Units:
First of all, this is a military strategy, so military units immediately appeared in the game — tanks, robots, airplanes were planned … It’s more difficult with robots, they need animation, therefore in the end robots never appeared. But tanks were added and planes should have appeared from day to day, I thought them through carefully, but in the end I really didn’t have time to add them either. In general, I began to develop the game shortly before the army, so in the army, in my spare time, I thought over the rest of the game. In particular, the kind of units that I wanted to add to the game. And first of all it is flying units.
Parties to the conflict:
I will not tell you about the warring parties, I almost never thought about them. But I was guided again by Dune — Harkonnens, Ordos, someone else was there … But we definitely have 2 sides — this, respectively, we and our enemy. At first I thought about creating the same forces and the same buildings and subdivisions, only different colors (red and blue), but in the end I decided to make them at least outwardly a little different, as in Total Annihilation. By the way, the briefing of the second mission told us that the enemy had attacked our territory, and we must show «Mother of Kuzya» (not translatable construction of russian language). Therefore, we can say that the war began with the fact that we were attacked. And in the future I would come up with something else …
This is the story of the game and what it was based on. In the following articles I will talk about each item in more detail, already together with the source code.

This blog was… how do you say it? Relevant!! Finally I’ve found something which helped me.
Appreciate it!
I know this if off topic but I’m looking into starting my own blog and was wondering what all is needed to get setup?
I’m assuming having a blog like yours would cost a pretty penny?
I’m not very web savvy so I’m not 100% sure. Any recommendations or advice would be
greatly appreciated. Cheers
